History of Pearls:

Ancient Origins: Pearls have been valued for thousands of years, with ancient civilizations like the Egyptians, Romans, and Chinese using them in jewelry and ceremonial adornments.

Historically, pearls were reserved for royalty and the elite due to their rarity and beauty. They were considered a symbol of status and wealth. Today, cultured pearls (both saltwater and freshwater) are cultivated globally, with China being the leading producer, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality pearls for the luxury market.

Pearls are known for their unique shine and soft, radiant glow, known as luster, which is a key factor in their beauty. Unlike other gemstones, the shine of pearls comes from the layers of nacre (a natural substance produced by mollusks).

In terms of color, Pearls come in a spectrum of colors, from classic white and ivory to more exotic shades such as golden, black, lavender, pink, and peach. The different colors of pearls are a result of the type of mollusk and the water conditions in which they are grown. While round pearls are the most common, pearls also come in oval, button, baroque, and other irregular shapes, offering a range of options for custom jewelry designs.
